Terms & Conditions

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using FishBase Ireland or confirming a booking with us.

Last updated: 09 December 2025

1. Scope of our service

FishBase Ireland acts as an intermediary between you and venue owners offering private lakes, ponds and fisheries. We help you discover suitable venues, share information about facilities and put you in contact with the relevant host or guide.

2. Booking process

When you enquire about a venue, we will confirm availability, prices and key rules. A booking is only considered confirmed once you receive written confirmation from us or the venue owner. Some venues may require a deposit or full payment in advance; any such requirements will be clearly communicated.

3. Your responsibilities as an angler

  • Hold any licences or permits required for fishing in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Follow local fishery rules, including bait limitations, catch and release policies and access restrictions.
  • Treat the venue, wildlife and neighbouring land with respect and leave the area clean and tidy.
  • Immediately follow any safety instructions given by FishBase staff, venue owners or guides.

4. Ice fishing and safety

Ice fishing is inherently weather-dependent and may be cancelled or relocated at short notice where conditions are deemed unsafe. Final decisions about ice access are always made by FishBase safety staff and venue owners. Your safety is our priority; by booking with us, you agree to respect these decisions.

5. Cancellations and changes

Individual venues may apply their own cancellation rules, for example:

  • Free cancellation up to a certain number of days in advance.
  • Partial refunds or rescheduling options if weather or water levels make fishing impossible.
  • Non-refundable deposits at peak times or for exclusive-use bookings.

We will always explain the relevant rules before you confirm a booking so you can make an informed decision.

6. Liability

We take reasonable care to work with responsible venue owners and guides, but we cannot guarantee specific catches, fish size or weather conditions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, FishBase Ireland is not liable for:

  • Loss of fishing time caused by poor weather or travel delays.
  • Personal injury or equipment damage arising from your own actions, non-compliance with safety instructions or misuse of equipment.
  • Indirect or consequential losses such as lost earnings or missed onward travel.

7. Insurance

We strongly recommend that you arrange suitable travel and activity insurance that covers fishing, outdoor pursuits and any specialist equipment you bring with you.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The version published on this page at the time of your booking will apply to your trip.

9. Contact
