Our Story

Born from a love of Irish waters

FishBase began as a small group of anglers who wanted to make Ireland’s best waters easier to access — without losing the quiet, natural magic that makes a day on the bank unforgettable.

Today we connect guests with carefully chosen private lakes, riverside spots and cosy lodges across Ireland. From first-time fishers to seasoned pros, we help you find the right place, the right conditions, and the right support so that every session feels relaxed, safe and truly rewarding.

Our Mission

Making quality fishing feel simple, local and welcoming

Our mission is to take the stress out of planning a fishing trip. We carefully vet every FishBase venue for water quality, safety, comfort and atmosphere, so that you can focus on the experience — not the logistics.

We support responsible angling, local hosts and guides, and a community where everyone feels welcome — families, solo travellers, and dedicated anglers alike. Whether you’re chasing your first trout or your next personal best, FishBase is here to help you make it happen in a friendly, well-organised and memorable way.

Questions & Answers

Common questions anglers ask before booking with FishBase

Are pets allowed at FishBase venues?

It depends on the specific lake or lodge. Some FishBase partners are happy to welcome well-behaved dogs, while others do not allow pets for wildlife or accommodation reasons. Let us know you’d like to travel with a pet and we’ll show you only options where they’re welcome and comfortable.

Do you provide food or dining options?

Most FishBase venues are self-catering with a kitchen or outdoor cooking area, and many have great pubs or restaurants a short drive away. At some locations we can arrange breakfast hampers or locally prepared meals on request. Just ask our team when you enquire and we’ll outline the options for your chosen venue.

Is parking available near the water and lodges?

Yes — secure on-site parking is available at all FishBase venues, with most locations offering easy access for unloading gear close to your swim or accommodation. If access is more limited (for example at remote banks), we’ll let you know in advance and help you plan accordingly.

Is Wi-Fi available at FishBase locations?

Many of our lodges and houses offer reliable Wi-Fi, while some more remote or off-grid venues prioritise a “switched-off” experience with limited or no connectivity. You’ll see this clearly marked when we suggest venues, so you can choose between staying plugged in or fully escaping for a few days.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms can vary slightly between venues, but in general we offer free or low-cost changes up to a set number of days before arrival. Weather alone usually isn’t a reason for refunds, but if conditions make fishing unsafe we’ll always try to reschedule or find a fair solution with the venue. Full details are provided with your booking offer.

How do I book a fishing trip with FishBase?

Simply send us a message via the contact page with your preferred dates, group size, target species and whether you’d like a guide or accommodation included. We’ll suggest suitable venues, confirm availability and prices, and then secure your booking with a simple deposit.

What are the usual check-in and check-out times?

Times vary a little, but most FishBase lodges and houses offer afternoon check-in and late-morning check-out. Day-ticket waters normally open early so you can be set up for first light. If you need slightly different times, let us know — we’ll do our best to arrange it with the venue.
